It’s 6:47 AM on a Wednesday morning. My toddler daughter is miraculously still asleep. I’m bent over double in my kitchen wearing yesterday’s yoga trousers and looking like a crazed leopard as I refresh the Marks & Spencer website whilst cursing the coffee I just boiled but won’t stay hot long enough for me to drink.
Because, let’s be honest: What am I doing here? Hoarding every sale worthy piece from M&S Collection as it hits the site. Here at Domestiphobia HQ, we’ve been covering M&S Collection almost since its existence.
Their designs are reliable, the prices are excellent and if you know what you’re looking for, you can score some real gems. But let’s level here: When certain products from M&S Collection drop, you kinda just need to buy them or you’ll regret it forever.
Around 6 months ago, I somehow managed to let myself get passed by the release of their camel wool coat from their Collection line.
It sold out in literal minutes.
And I sat there at my laptop screen in disbelief. HOW.
DO. PEOPLE. BUY.
THINGS. THAT. FAST?
That coat haunted me for three weeks. Every time I logged onto their site I checked, sure that somehow it would’ve magically restocked since the last time I looked… But no. It was sold out.
Mockingly sold out. Guess what I did yesterday morning? Bought it.
Of course I did. Did I cry when it was mine? Absolutely.
Buuuuuuuuuuuuuut. See folks, I knew it was coming. When you pay as much attention to M&S Collection drops as I do, you kinda just know.
Would I have liked to sleep in? Sure. But when it comes to knowing what pieces will sell out immediately on M&S Collection (and which ones you should preemptively buy right now), you simply can not be afraid to let go of your pride and stalk like it’s your job… Because I do.
And proud of it. If you’re obsessed with M&S Collection like me, here’s everything you need to know about how the heck they continually manage to nail modern basics that we will literally murder each other over. Their spring collection is STUNNING and they’ve already got some real contenders for jumpers that you NEED to add to your cart ASAP. I basically stalk the Collection every day looking for the next big jumper, skirt, leather jacket, you name it… But something I’ve been noticing recently is the pieces that consistently sell out instantly vs. the ones that…don’t. First off: When I say sell out instantly, I’m talking items that sell out in under a minute.
Usually 30 seconds. These aren’t things that sit around for weeks in your cart while you debate buying them. No, when these pieces sell out, you’ll instantly know by the phantom tag itching your bank account.
These are the things you buy without question. The leather. Marks & Spencer make honestly some of the best leather pieces season after season.
Particularly when it comes to outerwear, their leather blazers, leather biker jackets, motorcycle jackets… You name it. Every. Autumn.
They drop leather goods that sell out faster than your tween daughter will completely demolish your entire house when you’re not looking. I’ll be honest, I never would have considered M&S a leather jacket brand until I moved to London and started seeing the types of pieces Brit girls were buying from there. My sister- in-law is a total Nordstrom girl.
She swears by them, hates shopping anywhere else, but will talk my ear off about how gorgeous every leather jacket M&S drops is. She’s been hunting the same M&S leather jacket for the past two years. “Yes, Shae. I know EXACTLY what you mean.
It’s the black leather motorcycle jacket, right?” She sent me the picture above back in 2018 after I promised I’d TEXT her if I ever saw that jacket go in stock again. And we both pretty much died inside when it sold out before we could nab them. She’s tried for YEARS to buy that jacket and somehow keeps getting thwarted at the last minute.
Why? You guessed it – it sells out quicker than we can believe. So why do these consistently sell out???
Well…it’s the perfect combination of high quality leather that only gets softer with wear, hardware that isn’t cheap, and just-the-right fits that are on-trend but not so trendy you only feel comfortable wearing them to zoom meetings. Let me give you an example from my own closet: Yep, you guessed it. That was an internet stalking victory for myself and about three other ladies I know.
Everyone and their mother wanted that blazer when it dropped. It’s a great classic cut that doesn’t feel frumpy, the sleeves are good length (not too short, not too boxy), and the leather is thick and soft. It gets compliments wherever I wear it, which isn’t usually something I expect from something from M&S Collection.
Side note: If you follow me on Instagram stories, I actually did see that jacket back in stock about a week after I posted this (I repeat – WHILE typing this post..)! Needless to say, my girlfriend and I were both on phones and computers refreshing furiously until we secured ours.♀️♀️♀️ PRO TIP: Trust me on this one. When you know M&S is going to release a leather piece that’ll sellout, BE READY.
M&S does cashmere better than anyone. Speaking of leather goods, their knitwear is similarly incredible. Their cashmere, in particular, is so soft and high quality.
I actually did the highly scientific task of grabbing jumpers at Nordstrom and running my hands over their version vs. M&S’s and….there was a difference but it wasn’t enough that I was ever willing to pay triple what M&S asks for the same thing. (Yes, I rubbed jumpers at Nordstrom. Don’t judge me.) When their knitwear drops each season, PARTICULARLY their cashmere, it sells out within hours.
If a blogger tweets about it? Seconds. Usually within DAYS of dropping, their coveted cashmere jumpers will sell out online and ANY remaining stock will likelyhem sold out at local stores.
Case in point: Last season’s camel cashmere jumper I posted about EARLY. The stuff you’d normally overlook online because you see it in stores ALL THE TIME is basically pouncing worthy when it comes to M&S Collection. Basic tees, cardigans, trousers, coats in classic colours that you know will literally go with anything.

THESE are the pieces you need to refresh your phone like your life depends on it when M&S drops them because you will not find them stocked at your local stores for longer than 72 hours. Trust me on this. I speak from years of internet stalking experience and watching people lament over lost loves on Instagram stories when they realised it sold out before they bought it.

BAGS? Really? But hear me out.
Two seasons ago, M&S dropped a leather satchel that I had zero interest in….until everyone I knew online suddenly lost their minds over. It was sold out in under 24 hours. People were literally asking each other on Instagram if anyone had seen it posted online.
Sure enough, less than a week later it sold out.. AGAIN. My interest was officially piqued.
I hunted that bag for months. It seemed like every time I checked INSTORE it was sold out. Finally, I called the store and insisted the women cheque in the back JUST IN CASE and low and behold, I was texted a picture of not one, but TWO in my size.
PRO TIP: Stores outside of central London tend to hold stock longer simply because not as many people are aware of the great pieces they have. If there’s something you’re searching for online, call your local M&S and see if they have it. You never know!
ANY leather bag M&S releases will sell out instantly. Trust. The shoes.
Oh, the shoes. M&S continually manages to drop leather loafers that send women into a frenzy. Two winters ago, they dropped a pair of leather loafers with a super thick chunky sole in black that I legitimately watched sold out FOUR separate times until I finally managed to nab a pair.
They restocked enough that I was able to buy one for myself AND my sister- in-law (who had also been trying to get them!) and I’m pretty sure they sold about 50 pairs that day. Across the UK. They were THAT good.
Same story with the kitten heel slingbacks they dropped last summer. Three sold out’s before I finally managed to nab a pair in my size. Again, WHEN M&S uploads a good leather shoe, BUY.
THEM. Because holy cow, do they sell out. QUICK.
Another major category of things that you buy as soon as you see them as M&S: Summer pieces, particularly linen goods. Now, don’t get me wrong- I love a good holiday piece as much as the next girl, but we’re talking tailored linen blazers, skirts, and trousers that you can actually wear to work or running errands, not just by the pool. Because linen is a finicky material- most of the trendy linen pieces you’ll find online will always be available in stores long after they sell out online, but STAY FOCUSED on those good quality tailored pieces M&S usually releases a few times a season, aka- Did you catch all of that?
Good. Let’s recap. If you know M&S is gonna drop a good leather piece in a classic cut- BUY.
THEM. NOW. When cashmere knitwear drops- any sign of basic coloured jumpers?

When spring/summer rolls around and they release lightweight linen pieces that aren’t basic holiday-wear, BUY. THEM. NOW.
There are always exceptions to the rules, of course. But for the most part, if you hone in on these categories, you’ll score yourself some great staples that will last you for years to come. Bonus?
Pricing for all of these pieces listed above was UNDER £100. Yes, you can find high quality leather jackets, amazing cashmere, and great basics all for less than the average meal at some restaurants these days. Score.
PS: When in doubt, google the styles above. You’ll quickly see why I stress good quality leather, cashmere, and well-cut basics sell out faster than people are willing to admit they love M&S Collection online. Buying M&S Collection isn’t always easy, kids.
Here are my best tips to make sure you actually manage to snag the pieces you want in your size when M&S drops them: MDS is usually best logged onto around midnight-8AM for new drops. Also, Tuesday and Thursdays are usually their big restock days. Learn those days like your life depends on it and set up stock alerts for categories you know sell out repeatedly.
Have their app downloaded on your phone and create a wishlist BEFORE the new drops drop. You’ll thank yourself when you realise how quickly browsing their ENTIRE collection will take versus being able to jump right to what you know you’ll want to buy as soon as it’s available. Keep your phone close and your settings ON.
All notifications. If your leather jacket comes back in stock and you aren’t staring at your phone refreshing every two minutes, someone else totally will be. Trust me.
As I mentioned above, do not sleep on checking in your local M&S for stock. Repeat after me: I will not be discouraged by sold out tags online INSTANTLY rushing into my local M&S.
Sometimes stores will have stock that’s already sold out online (particularly the basics I mentioned above), so if you live in a major city with easy access to multiple stores?

If you live like me where your nearest “fashionable” store is about an hour outside of the city you live in? DO yourselves a favour and keep your local stores on speed dial.
The woman I bought my leather jacket from last year actually called three other stores in different cities ON MY REFERENCE trying to find some for her customers. Score. Talk to your sales assistants.
People forget this these days but sales assistants are SO helpful when you develop a relationship with them! Let them know what you’re looking for and if they see something in the back they know you’ll love, they might just text you. Ask me how I found my beautiful burgundy bag from TWO YEARS ago… Shop the heck out of their New In section each season, particularly during season transitions.
