Okay so this burgundy leather skirt has been living in my camera roll for two weeks and I still haven’t figured out if I’m a person who owns this now or a person who’s borrowing trouble. One of us thinks burgundy leather is the easiest neutral we own, throws it on with literally anything, calls it a jean skirt with better posture. Another one of us thinks burgundy is a commitment color, like getting bangs, and has strong feelings about wearing it near anything red or orange because apparently that’s a whole crime scene. We have not resolved this. We are not going to.
The layering thing is actually the whole test though, because Austin weather this week went from sixty five and foggy to actual sun to weirdly cold again all before noon, three separate times, and this skirt had to earn its spot through all of it.

Cropped sweater in the morning, sweater tied around the waist by eleven, sweater back on by two because the AC in this one coffee shop is personally trying to end me. The skirt didn’t care. That’s the whole review honestly, it didn’t care.
Did the twirl test, obviously, because that’s step one, and it moves, not swishy exactly, more like it has its own opinion about a half second after you do.

Wind test happened by accident outside the studio and I will say the leather held its shape better than I expected, it didn’t go full parachute, it just sort of resettled itself like it was embarrassed for me. Stairs test is the real one though, the one nobody talks about, and I did have one moment going down a set of stairs at a friend’s apartment where I had to grab the railing like an idiot because the hem caught wrong, so if you’re stair heavy in your daily life just know that.
Sent the fit pic to the group chat before I even took the skirt off and got back “wait this is so good” from one person and “burgundy???” like a genuine question mark from another, so, see above, we’re never agreeing on this.
Shoe wise the combat boots won every single time, sneakers looked confused, and a pointy flat surprised me by being the one that made it look expensive instead of costume-y. Gold jewelry, not silver, silver made the whole thing look colder than it needed to be. A cream sweater on top was the pairing that got the most unprompted compliments, which, fine, I’ll admit the safe choice won that round.
I’ll say the honest part too, this skirt is a gamble if you’re not used to leather doing main character things in your outfit, it wants attention and if that’s not your speed it’ll sit in your closet judging you. But for the two of us who keep fighting about it, it’s staying.
