Okay so on this team, one of us thinks a gold leather skirt is a special occasion piece, wheel it out for one dinner, take it off before the leather starts feeling like a second, sweatier skin. Another one of us wears hers to Target. That’s the whole disagreement and we have never resolved it and honestly I don’t think we’re supposed to.
I’m somewhere in the middle but leaning toward the Target person if I’m being real with you guys. I bought mine because I saw it on someone’s For You page doing a spin in a parking garage and I was like, that’s it, that’s the purchase, no further research needed, which is exactly the kind of decision making that has gotten me into trouble before and did it again here, just not in the way I expected.
The static is a whole thing nobody warns you about.

Wore it with tights once in February and by the time I got off the train the skirt had basically adopted the tights as a hostage, I was doing this discreet little tug and shake combo every time I stood up, looking unhinged, no one clocked it on camera though, it filmed completely calm, which tells you everything about how useless “how does it look on video” is as your only metric.
The riding up situation is real but manageable, there’s a specific hip check adjustment I do about four times a day that’s become basically muscle memory at this point, I don’t even think about it, I just do the little tug when I sit down.

Heat is rough, not gonna lie, sat outside for iced coffee in August and by the second half of my drink I was peeling myself off the metal chair, skirt and all. Cold is actually better, it gets a little stiff for the first ten minutes and then warms up and moves with you, which the parking garage girl definitely knew and I did not.

Mine survived an iced latte lid situation, full splash, wiped it off with a napkin, no stain, no drama, and that’s genuinely the best thing I can say about it because it means the piece has outlasted several of my more sensible cotton skirts that took one grape juice hit and never recovered.
I sent a photo to the group chat before I even took it off, one person replied “wait this is insane in a good way” and another sent zero words and just the skull, and both were correct depending on the hour.
This one’s a gamble, it’s loud, it photographs like a whole personality, and on the wrong day it reads more costume than outfit. But the days it works, it really works, and that’s kind of the whole deal with gold leather, you don’t buy it for safe, you buy it for the version of you that shows up in the good lighting.
