Okay so this whole post almost didn’t happen because I got into it with myself about whether a bronze mini dress is a “real Tuesday” item or a “fake Tuesday that’s actually a Saturday in disguise” item, and then it just stopped mattering because it hit 94 degrees the week I was supposed to film this and every single option in my closet that wasn’t bronze and mini got vetoed by my own body. Weather won. No one conceded anything, the argument just became irrelevant, which honestly is how most of my fashion opinions die.
I own two of these right now, which is one more than a normal person needs and exactly the number I will defend to the death. The first one is more of a liquid metal situation, catches light like it’s auditioning for a role, and I wore it to get iced coffee on a random Tuesday mostly to test the theory, and I counted, four separate strangers said something. Two were “obsessed with that,” one was a guy who just pointed at me and nodded which I’ve decided counts, and one was a woman in line who asked where it was from and then said “expensive?” in a tone that implied she was hoping I’d say yes.

That one meant something. The pointing guy did not.

The second dress is a slip cut, way more skin, and I need to be honest that it is NOT a Tuesday dress unless your Tuesday involves a rooftop and someone else paying for the Uber. That one’s the gamble pick. It photographed unreal, filmed even better, moved like water on camera, and then in person at an actual event I spent forty minutes tugging the hem and doing the sit down shuffle so I wouldn’t flash the table. Shorts were required. Not optional, not a maybe, required, the bike short kind, and I will die on that hill for anyone under a certain length.
Sent a pic of the slip one to the group chat before I even left my apartment and got back “not a Tuesday dress” from one person and “wear it to the mailbox for me” from another, so, still unresolved, still don’t know who was right, and now it’s basically fall so the argument just expired on its own, which feels fitting.
Here’s where I landed, if you’re making me pick: the liquid metal one earns its spot, it’s worn twice already for reasons that had nothing to do with an occasion, it just felt right. The slip dress is staying, but it’s an event dress wearing a mini dress costume, and I’d rather admit that than pretend I’ve casually worn it to Target, because I have not, and I never will.
