Okay so green is either the most flattering color on earth or it’s the thing that makes you look like a golf course, and I genuinely cannot get anyone to agree with me on which one, including past me, who has held both opinions in the same calendar year.
I bought my first green A line on a total whim, one of those “the algorithm decided for me” moments, saw it on a girl doing a twirl transition, bought it in eleven seconds flat, no thinking, no swatch, nothing. It sat on the hanger for four months because in my actual bedroom lighting it looked less “forest goddess” and more “cafeteria smock,” and I could NOT figure out why it looked so different from the video until I finally wore it outside and realized the photo was shot in golden hour and my apartment has one sad overhead bulb. Lesson learned, sort of, I still haven’t fully learned it.
The one that actually stuck around was the boring purchase, the one I bought because it was on sale and I wasn’t even excited, a deeper bottle green that photographs kind of muted but in actual daylight has this richness that the impulse one never had. That’s the one that’s been to a wedding, a work thing, and a Sunday brunch that turned into four hours somehow, and it survived sitting the entire time, survived a plate of pasta, survived three separate hugs from people who lean in with their whole body weight, no grease spot, no weird bunching at the waist when I sat down, nothing.

Sent a photo to the chat afterward and got “wait this is the boring one??” which, yes, correct, the boring one won.
Here’s where the group chat actually split though, not on whether it worked, on whether it looked GOOD, which is a completely different argument.

Half the chat is team deep emerald, says anything lighter reads costume-y, borderline St. Patrick’s Day. The other half is obsessed with the sage, lighter, softer, says the emerald is trying too hard and reads like a bridesmaid dress that lost its wedding. Nobody budged. We just kind of agreed to disagree and both camps still send links to each other out of spite slash love.
I’ll be honest, the sage one is the gamble pick. It’s stunning on the right undertone and slightly washes out on the wrong one, I’ve seen it do both to the same face depending on the week, so if you’re going that route try it in actual daylight before you commit, not the ring light, the ring light lies.
Anyway I own three greens now, wear one, love one on camera only, and still haven’t resolved the sage versus emerald thing with the group chat, we’ve basically just decided that’s our permanent unresolved beef and moved on.
